Truc & John | Dream Lake, Colorado Engagement | Destination Wedding Photographer

Where to begin? Truc and John’s engagement session was like a dream. Mainly because during the actual session we were all so cold we couldn’t even think but also because of this view and this model couple (don’t you think they look like they could be found in magazines?!). Truc and John are an adventurous couple so for their engagement photos they wanted to do something that portrayed that! They picked Colorado as the perfect location.

Dream Lake, tucked into the Rocky Mountains, was a short mile hike into the Rocky Mountain National Park, but hiking in the below freezing temps and slick ice was definitely a fun challenge. Truc and John did the hike in layers of snow gear over top their dressy outfits. Once we reached the lake and made it out on to the frozen lake they stripped the snow gear for the photos. They were such good sports though and for these seasoned adventurers it was nothing. It was all definitely worth it! If taking photos in the harsh conditions the first time wasn’t enough, we braved them again the next day and went to Lake Dillon for more casual, fun photos. Thankfully this location didn’t include the hike.

Not only did Truc and John allow us to crash their annual ski trip to capture their engagement photos, they let us also ski with them! It was a trip I will never forget and alway cherish. Scroll all the way to the bottoms to check out some BTS from the trip!

What was your favorite part of the shoots and the trip?

“Dream Lake! The hike took us almost an hour and we were struggling trying not to slide in the snow. However, once we reached the destination, it was like WOW! The views are all worth it!! The whole photoshoot took less than 10 minutes cause it was so cold, haha, but Rachael was able to capture SO many beautiful photos of us and made them look flawless. Spending time with friends and catching up was a plus.

Although we just met Rachael the day of the first photoshoot, she made us feel so comfortable and her directions for posing made us look like Hollywood stars! We were so at ease with her and didn't feel awkward at all. Her willingness to hike with us for photos shows her adventurous spirit and I think that's why we connected with her so much.” - Truc
