I can’t believe how fast time flies. Almost a year ago I had the pleasure of getting to fly out to Washington D.C. to capture Jessica and Jeff’s engagement photos. We went to multiple locations including the National Mall for the Lincoln Memorial, Brookside Gardens and finally Hillwood Estate since it was where Jeff had popped the question and proposed to Jess! I had such a blast on this trip getting to hang out with these two, meet Jess’s family (and her adorable pup), and take some photos of beautiful people in beautiful locations. Now these two insanely sweet people are getting married this Saturday and I can’t wait to capture their big day!

Read below for their proposal story from Jeff’s words!

POPPING THE QUESTION

On July 3, 2020, I walked up to Jessica’s door with sweaty palms and rang the doorbell. The door opened and my jaw dropped at the sight of the most beautiful girl in the world. She looked absolutely stunning in her dress. Once we got to the Manor, I steered her on a path in the opposite direction of the planned proposal area. This was to allow time for our parents to come in after us and get to the hiding spot without Jessica possibly seeing them. After having a lovely walk around the rest of the gardens, and a couple of secretive texts to ensure everyone was in position, we made our way to the Japanese Zen Garden. I walked her onto the bridge, professed my love to her, and pulled out the box - being sure to face the sun as I opened it because it made a cool sparkly reflection for her to see. “Thuy-Hang Jessica Tran, will you marry me?”

THE YES!

After what felt like an eternity waiting for her answer - she was able to give a big yes! It was then that I pulled out a little surprise. For Easter, Jessica had given me a basket filled with all sorts of chocolates and a few paper cutouts of Easter eggs and bunnies. Each had a memory or something sweet written on it. On one egg she had written: Congratulations! You found the golden egg! This egg is good for 1 free request. You can ask me to do one thing and I will do it without any questions or complaints.

I kept this egg specifically for this moment where I pulled it out and said, “My one request is that you marry me and live happily as my wife for the rest of our lives.” Our parents came out from their hiding to give us hugs and congratulations. It was the best day of my life (to date) and I have been smiling ever since. I couldn’t be happier with anyone else by my side. I love you hunnie - with all my heart!
