Yasmine & David | Little River Farms Wedding - Alpharetta, GA

Yasmine and David’s wedding was the definition of the perfect spring wedding! April 29th at Little River Farms in Milton, GA turned out to be the prettiest day with temps around 70 degrees, partly sunny skies that shown on the greenest foliage which complimented the wedding’s color palette of dusty rose with white and sage green. Yasmine’s florals and bouquet, by Bantam and Bloom, comprised on the prettiest blush garden roses, butterfly ranunculus, peonies and, the bride’s favorite, orchids. They are her favorite because they represent her stroke survival journey. Orchids were given to her when she was at the hospital, and they still bloomed a year!

Another key element to Yasmine and David’s wedding was the blending of Persian and Italian traditions. They had a traditional Persian Sofreh, which Yasmine’s mother created. The Sofreh is ceremony table which is decorated with symbolic items that all represents an element of marriage for the couples new life together. These items include a mirror, sugar cones, coins, sweets and much more. During the reception they had a blend of Persian and Italian food and music. It was an absolute beautiful experience!

-What was the best part of the day?

It was so nice to see all our friends and family that we had not seen in such a long time. David’s family flew in from Canada and it was so nice to see them. Our friends also flew in from various states across the U.S. so that meant a lot to us. We had a blast catching up with everyone during cocktail hour and dancing at the reception.

We also really enjoyed the intimate moments we were able to have together such as the first look and the last dance.
- What do you remember most about the ceremony?

We had a Persian ceremony and the ceremony table that my mom created was beautiful. During the Persian ceremony, the bride and groom sit in front of an assorted table full of items that symbolize a successful and happy marriage. Some of the elements included a mirror that signifies eternity, candlesticks that signify light, eggs that represent fertility and coins that represent prosperity. The bridesmaids hold a cloth over the bride and groom while the mothers grind sugar over the cloth. This is said to make the union between the couple even sweeter, invoking good energy from the guests who are already happily married. After the couple has consented and they are officially married, it is customary for the bride and groom to exchange honey. This symbolizes the idea that the couple will feed each other sweetness as they begin their lives as one.

It was a wonderful feeling to have our bridal party and our mothers involved in the ceremony.
-What did you think the first time you saw her/him? Were you happy you did a first look?

I was so nervous and excited as I walked up behind David to surprise him. I could not wait to see his reaction. When he turned around and we saw each other for the first time after getting dressed, it felt so special and emotional. David looked so handsome in his white tux! It was such a memorable moment.

We are so glad that we did a first look! It allowed us to have a special private moment together, spend more time together before the ceremony, and get portrait photos prior to the ceremony. It was also a plus because we wanted to enjoy cocktail hour with our friends and family.

-What was the funniest thing that happened?

During the Persian ceremony, the couple usually feeds each other honey as a symbol of unity and to sweeten each other’s lives. David took such a huge serving of honey to feed me that it almost fell on my dress, but luckily, I caught it with my hand. I’m not sure if the audience noticed but we had a good laugh.

-What was your wedding planning and vision?

One of the greatest feelings besides seeing everyone you love in one place is to finally see your vision come to life on your wedding day! It took a year of planning and researching various resources to find the best vendors. My vision for florals was to replicate a rustic Italian garden with Spring blooms. Having our wedding during Spring represented new, happy, and vibrant beginnings. Our florist did such an amazing job. During the reception, we had Persian and Italian food and our DJ had us dancing until the very end of the night. Lastly and most importantly, Rachael did a phenomenal job capturing all our special moments and details. We could not be happier with how everything turned out!
