Truc & John | Crystal Palace Westbank | New Orleans, Louisana Wedding

Truc and John tied the knot! Their ceremony was held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in New Orleans on April 23rd, 2022 with a reception that followed at the Chrystal Palace . When I say this wedding was AH-mazing, I’m not joking. It was as sweet and beautiful as the couple themselves! Their wedding had everything from lamas to dancing dragons showing off the fusion of their Vietnamese and Peruvian cultures! I feel like my own words couldn’t do this wedding justice so I stole some from the couple. Read below to learn more about Truc and John’s wedding day from their own perspective!

His vs Hers:

1. What was your favorite Part of the day?

Her: My favorite part of the day was definitely the reception. Once we were done with all the formalities, I was able to relax a bit and just party it up on the dance floor with John and our guests. We definitely bought club/rave vibes and it was everything we imagined.

His: So many! Dancing with the love of my life. I loved the first dance and later in the evening cutting loose on the dance floor. The club-like atmosphere was perfect. Also, getting to eat all the tasty food. With a seven course meal there was no shortage of options! The dragon dance was also a highlight. It was fun and well coordinated. I couldn’t stop watching.

2. Are you happy you did a first look?

Her:A first look is a must because it allows you to have a more private moment than just seeing each other for the first time in the church. I was actually so nervous with butterflies in my stomach. He was so handsome!

His: The first look was the first time in the day when it all felt real, that we were really getting married. Looking at her and knowing that we would finally be able to spend forever together. She looked amazing. Having all of our friends there made it extra special.

3. What was the funniest thing that happened?

Her:Our conversation during the first dance was actually pretty funny. In my head, I always imagined it being more romantic where we're talking all lovey dovey to each other but we ended up bickering back and forth about when he should dip me. I ended up just dipping myself and letting him catch me, haha. If you watch the video closely, you can see me mouth "Dip me, dip me!"

His: My favorite funny memory was during our first dance. It was completely unscripted so we didn’t know how it was going to go. We were having fun dancing when all of a sudden she looks at me and says “dip me”. I wasn’t ready! Nonetheless she dipped herself and I scrambled to catch her. It looked smooth on the video but I was sweating.

4. What's one thing you 100% don't regret doing?

Her:The llamas and dragon/lion dancers were awesome. It allowed us to incorporate our cultures and people have not stopped talking about them until this day.

His: The llamas! We were on the fence at first. We didn’t want it to be too cheesy with the live animals but last minute we found Lazy B Alpacas. We thought it would be a great way to tie my Peruvian culture into the event. I’m so glad we did because they were a hit! They were just as popular as the bride and groom.

5. Any advice you'd give to others planning their wedding?

Her:Enjoy the process. All the details that matter in your head, isn't noticed by anyone else. Try not to get boggled down by the details that you get into big arguments with each other. You want the whole experience to be positive vibes so that the memories will always be great.

His: Take the week off before the wedding. We’re perfectionists and we had so many little details that we wanted just right. You’ll be grateful for the extra time with your family and friends.

6. Anything else you would like to add? It can be anything!

Her: Do a last dance! It was so much more intimate than the first dance. The first dance felt more like a formality for me. The last dance gave us a chance to enjoy a couple of private moments together to really top off the night.

His: The table toasting was so much fun. It’s a Vietnamese tradition to go to each table and toast. Take it easy on the shots and you’ll have a great next morning. I loved hearing everyone’s heartfelt speeches.
